Welcome to 2ned Magazine's fourth episode of the Tour de France program "The Amateur and the Danish Tour Legends", which is dedicated to the Danish riders who have raced and completed at least one Tour de France throughout their careers.
Today's guest is the outstanding Claus Michael Møller, who rode no less than 14 seasons as a professional and 11 Grand Tours, including a single Tour de France.
Claus Michael Møller was a stage race rider, winning time trials, mountain stages and GCs. He rode his best seasons on the Maia Milaneza team from 2000 to 2003, which included overall victories in the Volta Algarve, Volta a Portugal and a stage win, as well as an overall 8th place in the Vuelta a Espana in 2001.
He was generally very successful in the Spanish and Portuguese races, but also had a career with ups and downs, for example, it was all over before it had even started when the legendary TVM boss Cees Priem walked out of a pre-contract after Claus' first season as a trainee on the team.
Claus wanted to pull the plug and return to the bank, but an insistent bank manager changed his mind, and so Claus was back in the peloton and back to a long cycling career that had only just begun. Hear about the big victories, the big crashes, the anecdotes from the road and much more.
