Welcome to 2ned Magazine's new podcast program: "The Amateur and the Danish Tour Legends", which is dedicated to the Danish Tour de France riders. At 2ned, we believe that it is a huge achievement to be selected - and then complete a Tour de France as a Danish rider. Yes, in fact, we believe that it is a legendary achievement.
All young riders dream of participating in the Tour, but few are skilled enough to get the opportunity. And in Denmark, we could generally do better at paying tribute to our heroes. So now, in connection with the Danish tour start, we have decided to pay tribute to all the Danish riders who have ridden and completed at least one Tour de France. We do this through this small portrait series, where we talk to the Danish tour legends about their general cycling careers, their experiences from the Tour de France, their all-star tour team and much more.
In this episode of “The Amateur and the Danish Tour Legends”, we have formidable company in the form of Uno-X rider Niklas Eg. He is the first in the line of Danish Tour Legends, and he is also the only active rider we have spoken to so far. Niklas Eg gives a fantastic insight into his preliminary cycling career, describes how as a very young rider, on a large international team like Trek, you act when you live in a room with the star Bauke Mollema, talks about the switch from Trek to Uno-X and about the new start on the Nordic team, he fields an all-star team consisting exclusively of Danes and comes with lots of anecdotes from life as a professional cyclist.
